2018 NFL Draft: Ranking the Top 10 running backs
By Dana Becker
Much like the aforementioned Georgia duo of Nick Chubb and Sony Michel, Kerryon Johnson was part of a talented backfield at Auburn that limited his usage to just 519 carries over three seasons.
Johnson found his role expanded a bit this year, running for 1,391 yards and scoring 18 touchdowns. He also had 24 receptions, setting career-highs in all three categories. That led to a ninth place finish in the Heisman voting for the Tiger.
At 6-foot and 212 pounds, Johnson fits the mold of a running back. He averaged just under five yards per carry for his career against SEC competition, including a string of over 100 yards in seven of eight games during this year.
His junior season was highlighted by a 204-yards showing against Ole Miss. Johnson also showed his durability by taking on double-digit carries in all 11 games after his early season injury, including 20-plus nine times.
