4. Cougars’ quarterback questions

Trey Tinsley has been the star of the Cougars last two spring games. In 2017, he threw for 139 yards and two touchdowns. In the 2018 edition Tinsley threw for three touchdowns and 213 yards with no interceptions. Tinsley is a Mike Leach type of quarterback as he started off as a JUCO prospect, came to Wazzou, redshirted and is a Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention.

Leach loves being and playing guys that aren’t as highly touted as others. Anthony Gordon, another JUCO transfer finished 15-of-21 for 174 yards and a touchdown. John Bledsoe, NFL quarterback Drew Bledsoe‘s son, finished 7-of-9 but threw a costly interception.

The Washington State offense is going to be in the position to “get theirs” as the saying goes because Mike Leach is the head coach but Tracy Claeys, the Cougs new defensive coordinator, has to be a mix of happy and concerned. The Cougs defense wasn’t horrible, they got after the quarterback and pulled away with a turnover but the inability to stop Kyle Sweet and Dezmon Patmon has to be concerning. WSU has to find a way to replace their defensive backs that left and their old defensive coordinator who is now in Columbus, Ohio.
