NFL Mock Draft 2018: Complete 7-Round projections
The Green Bay Packers live and die on the health and productivity of Aaron Rodgers. Losing his former go-to target Jody Nelson this offseason isn’t ideal, but adding another pass catcher isn’t what’s going to take this roster to the next level. They need to stick to the defensive side of the ball, a formula that’s worked well for the Packers in the past.
With Rodgers at the helm, the offense has been as close to plug-and-play as any unit in the NFL. Since selecting Rodgers with their first round pick in 2005, the Packers has opted for a defensive player in the first round with nine of their next 11 first round selections.
Nose tackle Kenny Clark, the Packers’ first round pick in 2016, has been excellent so far. Adding an elite interior defender like Vita Vea out of Washington could give the Packers the best defensive front in the league. Vea had 82 tackles (12.0 for a loss) and 8.5 sacks over his final two seasons, impressive for someone playing on the inside rather than the outside of the line.
The big-bodied tackle has the athleticism to play the 3-technique. He’d pair excellently opposite free agent acquisition Muhammad Wilkerson.
