NFL Mock Draft 2018: Complete 7-Round projections
The Arizona Cardinals signed a 1-year deal with journeyman quarterback Sam Bradford during the offseason. Bradford isn’t being brought in to be a long-term solution; he can barely stay healthy for a full season. Rather the Cardinals will look to the draft to find their quarterback of the future – that just might not happen in the first round.
Unless Arizona sacrifices significant draft capital to move inside the top six or eight picks they’re not going to have any of the top four quarterback prospects available to them this year. Rather than reach for someone like Mason Rudolph or Lamar Jackson, the best court of action would be to see who is available in the second round.
At No. 15 they’ll fill another significant roster gap, wide receiver. Larry Fitzgerald is getting closer and closer to retirement. Outside of him, the rest of the depth chart has taken a hit to free agency. Carlton Agudosi, JJ Nelson and Cobi Hamilton are next up behind Fiztgerald – making Courtland Sutton an instant WR2 in this offense with upside.
A redzone threat with size, Sutton profiles similarly to Fitzgerald. Giving him a year to study under the future Hall of Famer will only increase his upside.
