Cornerback. Louisville. player. 31. 47. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Jaire Alexander

After snagging an elite linebacker with their recently acquired pick from the Rams, the New England Patriots will look to shore up their secondary with their second pick in the first round.

Former Super Bowl XLIX hero Malcolm Butler left New England on less than amicable terms after his Super Bowl LII benching. His departure leaves the team in need of a lock down corner and Jaire Alexander is the right man for the job.

Despite missing a good portion of his final collegiate season with injures, Alexander will be full-go come next season. A broken hand a sprained knee won’t slow down this speedy, instinctive defender from making an impact at the next level. If anything those injuries might have been the tipping point that allowed Alexander to fall this far to the Patriots in the first place.

Adding Alexander to a secondary that already includes Jason McCourty, Stephon Gilmore, Devin McCourty and Patrick Chung would make for an intimidating unit. The Patriots had several other offseason departures and have more holes to fill, but getting Alexander this late would be a huge win.
