Miami Football 2018 NFL Mock Draft: Where will the Hurricanes land?
Projection: Round 4, No. 133 overall
Mark Walton ended the 2017 season with an injury and it took him some time to bounce back. His NFL Combine data was poor as at 188 pounds he only logged a 4.6 in the 40-yard dash and a 31-inch vertical jump. That shows a lack of straight line speed and burst in his hips. That’s not a good sign for an undersized running back.
Walton ran for 5.1 yards per carry over his three year career in Coral Gables and scored 28 touchdowns from scrimmage. He’s a weapon in the passing game as a solid receiver but won’t be able to flex out like fellow Hurricane Duke Johnson or take the weekly pounding of a Leonard Fournette.
The Packers are in need of running backs as the grouping they have in Green Bay lacks a play maker and this is actually a situation where Walton could come in and eventually start by the end of the season because of the lack of talent at the position.
NFL.com ranks Walton as a guy with NFL backup ability and special teams potential, and he was a gunner for Miami while serving as a starting running back.
