. Pick Analysis. EDGE. MIami. 36. Trent Harris. 7. player

Projection: Round 7, No. 248 overall

Trent Harris will be drafted even without a combine invite. Slightly undersized at 6-2 and 245 pounds, Harris won’t be a true defensive end in the NFL. However, with his speed and playmaking ability he’s a guy that someone like Pete Carroll will find a home for in Seattle. I can see Carroll bringing Harris in on second or third-and-long situations to add to his pass rush after losing Michael Bennett this offseason.

Harris finished his college career with 15 sacks and 26.5 tackles for loss. He had a chance to work under Coach Kuligowski who has put enough players in the NFL from the defensive line position to be a favorite of Bill Belichick and now Nick Saban.

The Seahawks are looking to get younger and faster this off-season and Dion Jordan is an actual backup on the roster who has proven nothing in the NFL. Cliff Avril is entering year 11 in the NFL while Frank Clark is a younger version of Avril and could make a tough combination to stop on obvious passing downs with Trent Harris opposite of him.

If Harris can contribute in the kicking game players with speed and versatility often stick on NFL rosters for more years than expected.
