Winner: Nebraska Cornhuskers

I promise you, I’m from Florida and not the Midwest, but yes there is a Midwest flavor on this list as the Big Ten did a great job of putting on their spring games even if their TV deals are starting to get weird.

Scott Frost‘s return to Lincoln, Neb., cannot be overlooked by college football media and fans alike. It was a huge turnout of over 86,000 fans to a spring football game in frigid Lincoln in April. When the final seconds ticked off the clock, the fans gave Frost a standing ovation and his freshman early enrollee quarterback looked the part of the other Ms he’s had such great success with as freshman in the past.

Adrian Martinez had to get Husker fans ready to be the newest hype machines on social media about their program. The young quarterback, who should be biding his time before prom, not standing out in front of 80,000 strong, threw for 114 yards, ran for 60 more and totaled four touchdowns on the day. Frost was able to get major contributions from Marcus Mariota and McKenzie Milton in their freshman years and Martinez is the clear-cut starter heading into 2018.

The Big Ten West has been the stomping ground of the Wisconsin Badgers as of late but Nebraska is going to give them a run for their stronghold by the 2019 season. The TV coverage, press hype and fan turnout gave Nebraska the win for the spring of 2018.
