2. player. 52. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Jacksonville Jaguars. . Pick No. 29

This is another circumstance where an NFL team might need a different quarterback option for the future, but has one in store that has the ability to lead his squad to the postseason this season. For Arizona it’s Bradford, for the AFC South Champion Jacksonville Jaguars it’s Blake Bortles.

Jacksonville took the entire football world by surprise when he led this team a near Super Bowl appearance last season. They were so close to taking control of the AFC Championship Game, when nobody even gave the Jags a chance in the previous round against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

All the talent and depth that the Jags brought into the mix in the past two NFL Drafts paid off in spectacular fashion. Before the 2017 regular season got underway, few people even gave the Jags a chance at competing in the AFC South given their struggles over the past decade.

However, the Jags might have the best looking future of any team in the AFC at this moment. Their defense is so stout and young that it will be hard for anyone to take command of matchups against them come the 2018 slate. Adding Jackson to the Jags’ offense makes them so dangerous and talented that this is a no-brainer type selection if he’s still on the board at pick No. 29. Jacksonville head coach Gus Bradley would be a great sideline boss for Jackson to develop with too.
