2018 NFL Draft: Are these late rumors fact or fiction?
3. The Broncos will trade down in the first round
The run on quarterbacks is going to start early, but unless the Browns take a quarterback at No. 1 and No. 4 there’s still going to be one of the “Big Four” quarterbacks left on the board at No. 5. Who that is will determine what the Denver Broncos do with their first selection of the 2018 NFL Draft.
During the Senior Bowl, the Broncos made a special request to get Baker Mayfield on their team. They’ve been linked to the Oklahoma passer for some time now and there’s no doubt that John Elway fancies himself a winner at the quarterback position. If he’s available the Broncos won’t worry about trading down.
Yet there are no guarantees that Mayfield is available at No. 5. The New York Jets have been connected to Mayfield, and there’s always a possibility that another team trades into the top four picks and scoops Mayfield out from underneath them.
The rumors that the Broncos are considering trading the No. 5 selection are valid, but the decision to move the pick is far from set in stone.
