Alabama Football NFL Mock Draft 2018: Where will Crimson Tide land?
The Cowboys are hurting, there’s no doubt about it. They have a desperate need to fill a bunch of spots on their roster, and Ra’Shaan Evans would help with that. They have a great linebacker in Sean Lee, but he is nearing the end of his career and has been plagued with injuries. Needless to say, there will be room for a new linebacker.
He does well as an inside lineman in a 3-4 scheme and since the Cowboys tend to work in a 4-3, he could bring some much-needed diversity to their game plan. Evans came to Alabama as a five-star recruit and the best linebacker in the country. He is comfortable with zone coverage and in the open field, which will help the Cowboys stop the passing game.
Evans is strong on special teams and can play well as an edge rusher. He reads the plays well and isn’t a maverick. He may need to bulk up a bit to compete in the pros, but that shouldn’t be a problem with the NFL strength and conditioning coaches. Evans may not bring instant impact to the Cowboys, but his trench warfare style will bring much-needed depth to the Cowboys’ line.
