Clemson Football NFL Mock Draft 2018: Where will Tigers land?
Dorian O’Daniel is a beast, in the best possible sense of the word. He covers every part of the field, but excels in middle coverage in any passing situation. He destroys the opponent’s special teams unit — he had 47 total special teams tackles.
In 2017, O’Daniel led the Tigers with 103 tackles, including 11.5 for loss and five sacks. He blew scouts away at the combine; his performance in the three-cone drill was the fastest in 12 years.
O’Daniel’s athleticism, production and consistency would make him a great fit for any team, but some analysts claim that his smaller size might hold him back. I disagree — O’Daniel is part of a new generation of backs. He is versatile and can play as a hybrid player is several back positions, including Will side.
The new NFL is more about speed than size, and O’Daniel has speed in abundance. I see him as a fourth-round pick, but he should have a solid career for years with the right team.
