5. Buffalo Bills
Current quarterbacks: Josh Allen, AJ McCarron, Nathan Peterman
The Buffalo Bills made one of the most questionable decisions in the 2018 NFL Draft when they drafted Wyoming gunslinger Josh Allen with the No. 7 overall pick. They hope Allen will be the quarterback of the future, but he’s extremely rough around the edges. Allen’s completion percentage, footwork and pocket presence all need work before he’s ready to assume full command on an NFL offense.
Manziel’s departure from the league were primarily driven by his off the field issues. In his final season with the Browns (10 appearances with six starts), Manziel completed 57.8 percent of his passes with seven touchdowns and five interceptions. Those aren’t eye-popping statistics by any means, but there a floor from which Manziel can build upon.
A short contract would work for both parties. Manziel wants to prove he can play at a high level again while Buffalo wants to buy time for their quarterback of the future. AJ McCarron was on the open market before he signed with the Bills for pennies on the dollar. He’s clearly not in the cards for the Bills, so why not consider someone with more upside?
