2. Kennan Reynolds, Navy

Keenan Reynolds should have won the 2015 Heisman Trophy. Reynolds embodies everything the trophy should stand for and the country could have been proud to have him as a winner. Unlike Reggie Bush who had his trophy stricken from the record book, or Johnny Manziel who tainted the award, Reynolds was the chance the Downtown Athletic Club had to do the right thing. He out gained and outscored the winner Derrick Henry.

OK, I’m off my soap box. While at Navy, Reynolds won twenty-eight games including a 4-0 record against rival Army West Point while under center. A true triple option quarterback, Reynolds threw for 4,001 yards passing and thirty-one touchdowns and only eight interceptions. On the ground, Reynolds added another 4,559 yards rushing and eighty-eight touchdowns on 4.7 yards per carry. Reynolds has the Division I record for rushing touchdowns that will likely never be broken.

The Tennessee native finished his career at Annapolis the AAC Offensive Player of the Year and 3rd team All-American in 2015. His number 19 has already been retired after finishing 3-1 in bowl games and leading the Middies to their only eleven win season in the history of Navy football. Since leaving Annapolis, the Middies are 0-2 against the Black Knights of Army and have slipped from 9-5 in 2016 to 7-6 in 2017 while trying to find the right fit running the triple option.
