Michigan Football: Jim Harbaugh the college football version of Taylor Swift
Michigan is to Calvin Harris
Jim Harbaugh bounced back quickly from the San Francisco issues to become the head football coach of his alma mater the Michigan Wolverines. The Harbaughs packed up and moved to Ann Arbor where Jim signed a multi-million dollar deal to return the maize and blue to glory. Harbaugh took over the reigns after the Rich Rodriguez and Brady Hoke eras which saw only one double-digit win season over seven years, when Hoke won eleven games in 2011. When Harbaugh took over the Wolverines were 5-7 and Hoke was in the midst of controversy.
Coach Harbaugh immediately brought success to Ann Arbor with back-to-back 10-win seasons and an eight win campaign in 2017. That season was a slump but mainly because the Wolverines had to start three different quarterbacks on a young team.
Michigan was the focus of All or Nothing: The Michigan Wolverines which aired on Amazon Prime and showed the reputation for being socially awkward and quirky wasn’t far-fetched. I can’t imagine Harbaugh would treat Michigan as just another blank space on his resume but his eyes have to be on the NFL and redeeming himself at that level.
Swift released the super successful Red before the monumental 1989 which has sold over ten million copies behind number one singles “Shake it Off,” “Bad Blood” and “Blank Space.” Ms. Swift also began dating Scottish DJ and producer Calvin Harris making the couple the wealthiest duo of the year as they pulled in $146 million combined.
Much like Harbaugh and Michigan- this was a star-studded relationship and while I’m sure Harris will be just fine post-Swift. She has now released her Reputation album to much praise, but what will happen to Harbaugh heading into the 2019 season?
