Wisconsin Football: 5 reasons Jonathan Taylor can win Heisman in 2018
4. Playmaking ability
Based on last year’s numbers, Taylor chews up yardage. In 2017, he was third in the nation in rushing yards and nearly eclipsed the 2,000-yard mark with 1,977 total yards. He also finished in the top 20 with 6.6 yards per carry and averaged 141.2 rushing yards per game.
Taylor rushed for at least 100 yards in nine contests last season and even more impressive are his three 200+ yards games. Perhaps that doesn’t necessarily showcase his big-play potential. Delving deeper into Taylor’s freshman season, one thing stands out–his ability to make plays happen.
Taylor’s longest run from scrimmage was arguably his best game against Nebraska when he housed a 75-yarder on his way to a season-high 249 rushing yards in that game to go along with two touchdowns. Take a look at that run below.
In five games, Taylor had long runs of 50+ yards. That just goes further to show a sample of how influential he can be in affecting the Wisconsin running game.
