1. A year of years

Taking a look at some of the greatest running backs who have ever graced a gridiron, Taylor actually outclassed several of them when comparing their freshman seasons.

Here’s a recap of Jonathan Taylor’s 2017 season:

299 rushing attempts, 1977 yards, 13 rushing touchdowns

Believe it or not, those numbers are comparable and in some cases even higher than the freshman-year numbers of greats like Bo Jackson and Herschel Walker.

Jackson: 127 rushing attempts, 829 yards, nine touchdowns

Walker: 274 rushing attempts, 1616 yards, 15 touchdowns

The above similarities and exceeding numbers foretell a successful college career for Taylor. His reliability and durability give him an edge that only elite college backs possess. If he remains healthy for the rest of his time in Madison, there is a serious possibility of Taylor winning the Heisman in his true sophomore season, but perhaps also a chance for him to hoist the trophy for two consecutive seasons.

Without a doubt, he will be in the spotlight and a name to watch as the season progresses. Given his outstanding rookie campaign, Taylor could be the next great college running back.
