College Football: Ranking the 15 best quarterbacks entering 2018
It may not be an exaggeration to say that when healthy, Justin Herbert was one of the most productive quarterbacks in the nation. As a sophomore under a new head coach, he was absolutely electric in the beginning of 2017, averaging 321 total yards in his first four games of the season to go along with 10 total touchdowns and two interceptions. Oh, and the Ducks were 3-1.
Then he suffered a broken collarbone, and the air went out of Oregon’s season. Still, they won both regular season games that Herbert played when he returned, leaving them a cool 6-1 in Herbert’s regular season starts. Without him? They were 1-4.
As for Herbert? He still finished the year with the fourth best passer rating in the nation, completing 68.5 percent of his passes with 20 total touchdowns and just five picks. If he stays healthy, he’s a legitimate Heisman contender in 2018.
