3. He has offensive weapons

Although Wimbush lost Equanimeous St. Brown to the draft, he can rest assured knowing the Irish return two key targets this season in wide receiver Chase Claypool and tight end Alize Mack. Claypool corraled the second-highest amount of receptions for the Irish in 2017 with 29 catches. That was good for 402 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Mack only made six appearances last season, but he was a valuable asset in the game he played in. He worked was involved more in the short-medium passing game and had 19 receptions for 166 yards. His lone touchdown came against Miami.

Perhaps another key receiver for Wimbush next season will be his senior counterpart in Miles Boykin, who displayed athleticism with a wicked one-hander in the Citrus Bowl win against LSU in the final game of the 2017 season. Boykin caught 18 passes for 334 yards and three touchdowns.

What makes these targets such viable threat is their sheer size. Claypool, Mack and Boykin all measure at 6-foot-4 or taller and weigh 225 plus pounds . That gives each of them a distinct edge in the deep passing game against much smaller defenders.
