Senior kicker Garrett Owens departs after being named Honorable Mention All-Big 12, leaving a void behind him that Campbell and staff took to the recruiting trail to fill.

They came up with freshman Brayden Narveson, who was ranked as the 12th-best kicker in the class of 2018. Narveson hails from Scottsdale, Arizona and enrolled early, so he’s had the benefit of a full spring with the team. The Cyclones are counting on him to pick up where Owens left off, and, hopefully, begin a fruitful four-year career in Ames.

ISU will be depending on a couple early enrollees to step in and contribute on special teams right away. Narveson is the likely frontrunner at kicker, while JUCO transfer Corey Dunn will get the first shot at replacing Collin Downing, who spent four years as the Clones’ number-one punter. It’s a situation to keep an eye on once fall practices start ramping up.
