As Texas A&M Football enters the Jimbo Fisher era, position groups will be shaken up and changed around.  Who will come out on top for the 2018 season?

What a spring it has been in College Station. Things have changed quite a bit since Jimbo Fisher took over the program. A tight end was named the MVP of Spring Football, something that every Aggie fan is still shocked about. Both quarterbacks shined in different ways, increasing the difficulty of the upcoming position battle this offseason and into fall ball. Many believe that this team could compete right now if they buy in to the mentality Jimbo Fisher is creating.

According to Brent Zwerneman with the Houston Chronicle, the recent Aggie Ring Day was eye-opening for Fisher. He saw families crying and realized how much it meant to Aggies. Later, he pulled an A&M helmet out and took the chance to teach the team a valuable lesson.

When that helmet means the same thing to them as their little gold ring, Texas A&M will have a chance to get to where they want to be.

The above tweet includes some highlights of the Maroon and White game, including quite a bit of video of tight end Jace Sternberger. While this article covers position battles this offseason, the tight end position certainly won’t be one. So far, he has lived up to billing and that is putting it mildly.

He will join a unit that must start with the offensive line. It won’t be a headlining position battle, but sophomores Dan Moore, Carson Green and senior Keaton Sutherland will be battling for starting tackle positions in fall camp. Sutherland is almost a sure starter as a veteran, but crazier things have happened in Aggieland. On that note, let’s head into position battles to watch this offseason and into fall camp.
