5. He knows who is and what he does

In his first press conference, Chad Morris was plain when he explained that he is high school football coach at heart. He understands what it takes to succeed at that level and the role that they play for their players.

On several occasions, he talked about how coaching football isn’t what he is, it is what he does. He seems to have a moral compass that leads him to not only coach, but be a positive factor in the lives of his players.

Morris has mentioned that Deshaun Watson is like a son to his family. While at Clemson, Morris spent a number of years recruiting Watson, and just one year coaching him, and yet they are still close. Thus proving that he establishes relationships with players by taking an active interest in their everyday lives.

There have been instances were Morris would spend hours going around the stands and meeting each and every one of his players parents. He takes parents entrusting him with their children very seriously because he is a father first, and a coach second.
