Georgia Football: 5 breakout freshmen to watch in 2018
4. Zamir White
Losing two of the best running backs in the country to the NFL would be extremely harmful to almost every team. Georgia isn’t a normal team. Despite Sony Michel and Nick Chubb taking their talents to the NFL, Georgia’s running backs should be just as good in 2018.
That’s due, in large part, to Smart’s excellent recruiting. D’Andre Swift will start, and was great last year in limited time. Elijah Holyfield was also solid, and will only improve this year. The dark horse, somehow, is the best running back in the class of 2018.
Zamir White has no business being a quiet, possible breakout player. He’d start on almost any team in the country. His physical talent is immense, and he’s one of the best running back prospects of the past five years. The 6-foot-1, 220 pound North Carolina product is already a grown man, and brings a skill set that Georgia doesn’t yet have.
While Swift is more of a speed back, and Holyfield is a low, one-cut runner, White is a downhill, vicious tank. He’s stronger than most linebackers, and has the speed to outrun almost everyone on the field. He’s versatile, technically advanced, and as complete a package as you’ll find in a freshman running back.
With a less impressive depth chart in front of him, White would be a day one starter. Despite a ton of returning talent, there’s no way White won’t find the field in 2018. He’s just too good.
