Which college football coaches are the hot seat heading into 2018. What will they need to save their jobs? For some, there may be no real hope.

Every year, come December, after the regular season ends, we see the same mad dash. The search for a new coach begins for each program left without a leader following a firing. It’s a cycle that’ll never end, because there will always be bad coaches, or coaches that don’t live up to expectations. That means that there will always be programs looking for coaches that can do the job that their previous coach couldn’t.

While the news is officially made in December, more often that not, we know well in advance which coaches will be jobless after the season. It’s difficult for a coach to dig himself out of a hole, especially early on in a tenure. with more pressure to win than ever in college football, leashes are becoming shorter, and schools are pulling the trigger far quicker.

That makes it even easier to see just who is on the hot seat at any given time. While the conversation really ramps up during the season, it’s still easy to see who sits on the edge, even in the middle of June. Coaches that have been struggling for years, or coaches that have failed to inspire any excitement around the program stand out like a sore thumb.

That’s no different this offseason. Which coaches are firmly on the hot seat heading into 2018. What does each have to do to save his job?
