College Football: 10 best traditional uniforms, ranked
Notre Dame is one of the most celebrated football programs in college football history, and like many other traditional bluebloods, they sport a classic look that is unmistakable.
Blue helmets and gold pants are simplistic features of the Irish football uniforms, but even though they don’t include a showy construction, it is a style that Notre Dame will always preserve.
While the front of the jersey itself doesn’t have anything other than a white number with a gold outline, the sleeves of the jersey have the “ND” letter insignia that has left an indelible mark on college football history.
The most interesting part of the Notre Dame football uniform is the shiny gold helmet, which believe it or not, is actually painted with gold flakes from the Golden Dome on its campus. The helmets also contain real gold–that’s right, 23.9 karat gold in fact.
What’s cooler than that?
The process is duplicated each week so the helmets remain in a constant pristine condition. But I guess one of the oldest and most followed college football programs have to be treated like royalty.
