D’andre Swift could be the next great running back to come out of Athens, Georgia. After spending his freshman season spelling Nick Chubb and Sony Michel, Swift will likely become the team’s primary weapon coming out of the backfield.

Swift only totaled 81 carries and 17 receptions in 2017, but it seemed as though every time he touched the ball, opposing coaches were holding their breath. He averaged a gaudy 7.6 yards per carry, displaying his breakaway speed more than once.

Bringing lightning speed and great instincts for finding a hole, at 5’9 and 215 pounds Swift is the proverbial bowling ball heading into the mass of bodies before he turns on the jets as he emerges on the other side of the line of scrimmage.

If Georgia’s offensive line is as good as they were in 2017 (and reports are they may be even better), Swift will make an early appearance on a lot of Heisman ballots this year. The question is whether or not he’s going to be conditioned well enough to be the workhorse for an entire college season.

Everyone knows how well Swift can run the ball. How well he’s doing it in November and December will decide how long he stays in the Heisman Trophy discussion.
