College football has had some of the best and worst uniform combinations in the history of football. Here are the seven worst uniforms of all-time.
The college version of American football is littered with tradition and pageantry that spans decades and for certain universities centuries. One of the aspects I have always enjoyed has been the traditional rivalries and seeing those uniforms across the field from one another. Picture USC and Notre Dame, Ohio State and Michigan or Alabama and Auburn.
The contrast of colors is as important to the memory of the Iron Bowl as the game itself. After the brands started to really compete there was a shift and in order to attract media attention and social media attention — even some of the traditional powers have altered their perfect look or worn alternate uniforms that disgrace their past.
Uniforms are changed completely or modernized to sell new jerseys. It’s a major reason for alternate uniforms in the first place while also being a media darling as previously mentioned.
But the truth is as well all know — athletics comes back to the almighty dollar and if LeBron changes his number or if the Miami Hurricanes run through the smoke in all black the fans want a piece of history and the brands want a piece of the financial action that comes with it.
