Current conference: Mountain West
Possible destination: Pac-12

Boise State adds another candidate for a possible spot in the Pac-12. The Broncos are one of the more notable Group of Five teams in recent years because of their consistency in the win column between the WAC and the Mountain West.

Boise State has won its conference four times this decade and has won the Mountain West outright twice — for the first time in 2014 and most recently, last season.

The Broncos dropped both matchups with Power Five schools last season against Washington State and Virginia but made up for it in a 10-point Las Vegas Bowl victory over Oregon, a Pac-12 team.

Unlike most of the teams on this list, the Broncos won’t play a team in the conference of its possible landing spot in 2018, but they do play Oklahoma State.

Boise State is also an outlier on this list because it does not necessarily fit the bill in terms of geography when it comes to joining a new conference. The Broncos would be the first team to be from Idaho in the Pac-12, but Boise itself is located on the western side of the state nearest to the Oregon and Washington borders. The Pac-12 does have teams from both of these states.

If the past decade isn’t any indication of what the Broncos are capable of in terms of success, I’m not sure what is. If the Pac-12 would ever be in the market for new teams, it shouldn’t have to look much further than Boise State.
