Penn State Football: 5 Reasons Trace McSorley will win Heisman in 2018
5. The Underdog and The Underrated
Who doesn’t love a good underdog story? Despite his success as a starter (22-5), McSorley doesn’t get the respect that he deserves, even from some of Penn State’s own fans. A contingent of the fanbase still thinks second-string quarterback Tommy Stevens should get the nod for QB1.
McSorley has more than earned his starting job and his name among the best of college football. Not to mention he is on a team that has exceeded experts’ expectations over the past few seasons but still get overlooked by those who don’t reach expectations or even get close to what is expected of them (I’m talking about you, Michigan).
Heading into 2018, Penn State is once again being overlooked by many and is expected to be the fourth or fifth best team in the conference. Even though he’s one of the most experienced and proven quarterbacks in all of college football, Trace McSorley isn’t even the favorite quarterback out of his conference to win the Heisman by some.

The disrespect for McSorley and his team will build an even bigger chip on his shoulders and will just add more fire to his game heading into the 2018 season. Based off “experts’” expectations, he has nothing to lose and neither does this team. Trace McSorley will stop at nothing to deliver his team a College Football Playoff birth and a shot at a National Championship.
