It could be a really, really tough year one for Edwards. This schedule is brutal, and if this team has any kind of injury issues, the depth is not capable of keeping the team afloat.
As per usual, Arizona State is going to have to score a ton of points. Their defense is going to struggle, and there’s just too much firepower in the Pac-12 south to be anything but great offensively.
The non-conference schedule isn’t friendly either. UTSA, Michigan State and San Diego State are all solid and will be tough to beat. The stretch of Washington, Oregon State, Colorado, Stanford and USC produces two wins at best.
The final four games aren’t awful, and I could see wins over Utah and one of the final three, but it’s never going to be easy for the Sun Devils.
Prediction: 4-8
Next: Building the best college football super team
I just don’t see it with this team, and this schedule. The offense will keep them in quite a few games, but this defense is just so young. I see wins over UTSA, Oregon State, Colorado and Utah.
SDSU, UCLA, Oregon and Arizona all feel like toss-ups, and playing three of them on the road won’t help at all. I’ve got Arizona State down for wins over the three teams I named, and San Diego State.
If the offense is elite, they could pull a few upsets. If the offense is hovering around the top 30, the Sun Devils season will end before December.
