College Football: Top 10 quarterback/wide receiver duos of the 2000’s
Derek Carr and Davante Adams were the main pieces of a Fresno State offense that put up absolutely ridiculous numbers as the Bulldogs won a share of the Mountain West title in 2012 and won the conference outright in the 2013 season in the inaugural championship game.
The pair thrived as a passer and receiver in an offense that loved to throw the ball. In two seasons, Adams racked up 233 receptions, 3,031 receiving yards and 38 receiving touchdowns. His time at Fresno State is highlighted by numbers that are video-game like. In both 2012 and 2013, Adams registered more than 100 receptions, and in the 2013 season, he hauled in a shocking 24 touchdown receptions.
Carr was the starting quarterback from his sophomore to his senior seasons and didn’t disappoint. He threw for 12,843 yards and 113 touchdowns. He also had some incredible figures. Throughout his career, he completed two-thirds of his passes and in 2013, he threw for an almost superhuman 50 touchdown passes while only getting picked off eight times.
The above video is just one of the many touchdowns Carr threw to Adams at Fresno State.
Both Carr and Adams have translated their successes in the college domain to the NFL. Carr is the top quarterback for the Oakland Raiders and Adams stars as one of the main receivers for the Green Bay Packers.
