Rutgers Football: 5 freshman to keep an eye on entering in 2018
Jalen Jordan offers unique size to the passing game as a wideout. His 6-foot-5 stature provides a solid target. He is a three-star recruit out of IMG Academy.
Rutgers has utilized a pair of tight ends in the past– Jerome Washington and Nakia Griffin-Stewart.
Jordan has a slimmer than the other two tight ends and in high school played receiver, so perhaps he could see some time at wideout as well. This just adds to his potential versatility. Rutgers has a young receiving corps to begin with, so Jordan can fit in nicely with the rest of the underclassmen.
Artur Sitkowski is the top-rated prospect out of the Class of 2018 for the Scarlet Knights. He is a four-star pocket passer according to ESPN. Sitkowski was a high school teammate of Jordan’s at IMG Academy.
Sitkowski showed his strong arm this spring in his first taste of action at the college level and will definitely be in contention for the starting quarterback job once summer camp begins.
The quarterback position has been a struggle for Rutgers in recent years and it experienced a very down year last season.
Sitkowski has the opportunity to not only start but also become the quarterback of the foreseeable long-term future.
Even if Sitkowski doesn’t win the starting job at the beginning of the season, his pure raw talents give him the chance to come in off the bench in a backup role. Rutgers has several options to consider for the quarterback role, but whoever earns the spot will have another passer eager to step in behind them.
