Ezekiel Rose played two seasons at the JUCO level before transferring to WVU in January of 2017, but the wait was worth it. After competing for playing time and earning some snaps in 2017, Rose will be a key fixture in WVU’s front seven this fall.

Rose led the ‘Eers in sacks last season with five, but to be a more frightening defensive unit altogether, the senior will need to improve on those numbers in 2018. Another full offseason in Morgantown will boost Rose’s familiarity and comfortability within the WVU system.

He isn’t just a pass-rushing defensive end, though. Rose’s versatility was on full display against Kansas State when he hauled in an interception. Dana Holgorsen offenses don’t typically utilize tight ends, but Rose might have a case for a new package involving himself.

There’s been plenty of turnover on the Mountaineers’ defensive front, too. With a number of departures, they managed to add two graduate transfers from Power Five programs: Kenny Bigelow from USC and Jabril Robinson from Clemson. Their experience should have an immediate impact, but expect Rose to lead by example.
