Jack Sears competed with Matt Fink this past spring for snaps under center. There was not much clarity at the position and Sears finds himself at the bottom of the depth chart, but not by much.

From San Clemente, California, Sears was the fourth overall pro style quarterback and was the 104th overall player in the 2017 recruiting class. He took a redshirt last season to learn the offense and gain as much knowledge from Sam Darnold he possibly could.

The reports from spring camp were not glowing. While Sears has a bigger arm than his counterpart Fink, his accuracy was lacking. He missed a lot of receivers and had a tendency to turn over the ball. While potential is one thing, when a quarterback is having accuracy and turnover problems, it is a big red flag.

Unless he has a major breakthrough in fall camp, Sears will find himself in the third quarterback position. Depending on how the season plays out, he will have to make a decision on his future at USC and whether or not he should transfer to another school.
