The Kansas State football program is in a state of flux with the Bill Snyder retirement rumors floating and Jim Leavitt in Eugene, OR and not Manhattan, KS. The Wildcats will have to go against their leader’s wishes, if he does retire, if they want to hire Leavitt and not Sean Snyder. KSU checks in at pre-season 61st overall in the S&P+ rankings, only hauling in the nation’s 71st best recruiting class per 247 Sports. It could be time for a change.

The Wildcats face a tough slate of games in 2018. They host South Dakota in Week 1, but that’s followed by hosting Mississippi State and upstart UTSA before a road trip to West Virginia. Snyder’s program could be staring down a 2-2 start to the season.

K-State then hosts Texas before traveling to an expectedly improved Baylor. KSU will host Oklahoma State before the bye week. Come off of the bye, the Wildcats travel to Norman, OK to face the Sooners, and then another road trip against TCU. They end the season hosting lowly rival Kansas and Texas Tech before an away game at Iowa State.

Next: Building the best college football super team

With the Big 12 improving their bottom-end there are hardly any easy wins on the schedule. The Wildcats 1st overall rating in the S&P+ special teams rankings will have to continue their ways in order to win tough games against a good schedule.
