Boston College Football: 5 reasons AJ Dillon can win 2018 Heisman Trophy
2. Boston College’s schedule
The Eagles are set to have another tough schedule this season, especially towards the end of the year.
While this may make things difficult for the team as a whole to garner wins, it will give Dillon an opportunity to showcase himself against some of the nation’s top teams.
The Heisman has proven year in and year out to be a grind of a trophy to win. Finalists pretty much have to provide consistency every week with only the leeway to have one, maybe two down games before they are ousted from consideration.
The trophy is also rewarded to players who can perform well against top competition — it doesn’t make sense to award someone a coveted trophy if they only factor into a win against cupcake opponents.
Dillon will surely have to prove himself against some quality defenses such as Clemson, a team that figures to be a surefire playoff contender.
With a full season under his belt, Dillon knows not only what to expect but what it will take to be a menace in 2018. He seemed to have figured things out at the end of last year against some quality teams, so he can now do the same this season.
