2. Establish a bonafide QB1

Austin Allen made an awkward exit from the program in 2017 leaving the door opponent for a new face at the helm of the Razorbacks’ offense in 2018. Who assumes that mantle is still to be determined.

Sophomore Cole Kelley got the first crack at the starting job a year ago. He’s got a rocket arm and held up reasonably well last season, but never looked inspiring when he was given command of the offense. After Kelley, junior Ty Storey and sophomore Jack Lindsey figure to be next in line.

All three of those candidates have one crucial thing in common: they’re going to be Razorbacks in 2019. The offense that Morris is implementing doesn’t require an experienced veteran passer. However, when used effectively, a mature football mind can turn his somewhat simple system into championships. It worked for Deshaun Watson, who studied under Morris at Clemson, and it can work for someone at Arkansas, albeit at a lesser scale.

Whether it’s Kelley, Storey or someone else, Arkansas needs to choose a QB1 in 2018 and stick with him. The experience and understanding will make huge dividends in 2019.
