After two successful seasons of Last Chance U and one with mixed reviews, it’s time to return the Netflix series back to East Mississippi C.C.
If you’re anything like me, you were eagerly awaiting the release of Season 3 of Last Chance U on July 20 after two very successful seasons following East Mississippi Community College.
Buddy Stephens made the show an interesting watch with his fiery demeanor and propensity to rubbing players and fellow coaches the wrong way. However, the Netflix series decided to move away from East Mississippi C.C. for Season 3, choosing Independence C.C. in Kansas instead.
Jason Brown is a much different coach, although intense as well, than Stephens but he hasn’t quite caught on like the EMCC head man. The head coach, born in Compton, says whatever is on his mind and cursing has increased — if you can believe that — this season.
While the show continues to be a success, the abrasive coaching style of Brown — even more so than Stephens — has caused problems with his players and a fellow coach even tried to fight him during a game. Players didn’t respond well to his coaching style and often shut down when he lit them up during games and in practice.
Yes, this is real life and football is a tough sport to catch on in, but East Mississippi C.C. was a much more intriguing destination because of Stephens and people actually became fans of the school.
While Season 4 has yet to be announced, Last Chance U should make a move back to EMCC and catch up with Stephens as he continues his quest for national titles.
But hey, if it’s at Indy C.C. again, the show will still be incredible to watch and there won’t be a shortage of viewership.
