Missouri ranked seventh in special teams per the S&P+ in 2017. If that trend continues the Tigers can pull off a few close, tough games in 2018. The Tigers pulled in the 13th ranked recruiting class in the SEC which is good for 43rd in the country per 247 Sports.
The Mizzou schedule isn’t for the weak at heart. They open with a sure win at UT Martin but then host an improved Wyoming before traveling to Jeff Brohm‘s Purdue squad a week later. The Tigers then host the Georgia Bulldogs before the bye week. Craig Bohl, Brohm and Kirby Smart are three of the biggest names in college football coaching circles today, a tough task for Barry Odom early on.
After the bye week, Mizzou has back to back road trips to South Carolina and Alabama which will be a body blow before hosting pesky Memphis and then Kentucky. The Tigers and Odom don’t have the wiggle room to start 1-5 again but could easily be sitting at only three wins heading into November.
The November stretch will be a road trip to Gainesville and Dan Mullen‘s Gators, host Vanderbilt, then travel to Tennessee, before finishing the season at home against Arkansas. Mullen, Jeremy Pruitt, and Chad Morris will bring completely new looks and different schemes for Odom and his staff to juggle.
