4. Hill can finally be the feature guy in the offense

Even with such a great season last year, Justice Hill may have actually had the spotlight stolen away from him at times because of the Cowboys’ dynamic duo of quarterback Mason Rudolph and wideout James Washington.

Hill can now take centerstage as the featured player in the Oklahoma State offense as a result of the departures of Rudolph and Washington.

Losing the tandem does have its fair share of drawbacks. For example, because the team was such a throwing threat, defenses had to respect the pass. This opened up many opportunities for Hill to shine anytime he carried the ball.

This season, considering Rudolph and Washington are gone and Hill has proven to be such a productive runner, defenses may adjust to favor the run to shut down the run game.

This, however, shouldn’t deter the rising junior because he’s just that skillful to still pull off another impressive season.

The Cowboys are expected to start redshirt senior Taylor Cornelius at quarterback. He has never started a game but got some playing time as Rudolph’s backup. This could be worrisome for Oklahoma State in terms of plugging in an unproven starting signal caller into the offense, but the Cowboys can rest assured with trust that Hill can carry the offense on his shoulders.
