Penn State has been a thorn to the Rutgers side since the Scarlet Knights joined the Big Ten. The Nittany Lions have won all four games in the East division matchup.

In 2017, the game didn’t bode so well for the Scarlet Knights in a 35-6 loss in Happy Valley. Rutgers failed to score a single touchdown in the game. Good news for Rutgers is, it won’t have to deal with Saquon Barkley anymore nor does it have to guard DaeSean Hamilton in the secondary.

The Scarlet Knights, however, will have to shut down Trace McSorley, who can produce both in the air and on the ground. He now takes the reigns of the Penn State offense in his third year under center as the starting quarterback.

This season, a win will be hard to come by as Penn State is predicted to be a top 5 team in the Big Ten as far as preseason rankings go.

Rutgers will play as the home team but since there is a decently sized collective of Penn State fans living in the state of New Jersey, there may be a fair amount of navy and white flooding the stands.

Rutgers certainly has a chance to steal an upset win late in the season, but all signs point towards Penn State taking the victory.

Final: Penn State 27, Rutgers 10 (6-5, 3-5 Big Ten)
