The pervasive storyline entering the fall centers around the starting quarterback position. Both Kellen Mond and Nick Starkel saw meaningful playing time last season and both had their highs and lows.

Mond defeated Florida on the road and came ever-so-close to toppling the Alabama Crimson Tide at home. Starkel capped off the season by throwing for 499 yards against Wake Forest in the Aggies’ Belk Bowl defeat.

More: Who will win Texas A&M’s quarterback battle?

Whether its Starkel or Mond under center (yes, under center) in 2018, the Aggies’ offensive ceiling is going to be set by the offensive line. The unit was in borderline disarray last year, forcing offensive line coach Jim Turner to employ hockey-style full line changes in the between drives. A more experienced unit returns this year and must be better if Texas A&M is going to move the ball in conference play.

If the line can gel, junior running back Trayveon Williams could take the SEC by storm. Two years ago Williams became the first freshman in Texas A&M history to top 1,000 yards on the ground. Last year his success was stayed by injuries and sporadic usage. He’ll be the workhorse back for Fisher in 2018 and should cross the 1,000-yard mark before Thanksgiving with a potential Heisman campaign already being whispered in College Station.

Filling the void left by Christian Kirk and Damien Ratley will be a host of aspiring stars led by wide receiver Jhamon Ausbon and tight end Jace Sternberger. Sternberger was the MVP of the spring game and will become the most productive tight end of the century if he can find the endzone a half dozen times over the course of the year. By and large, the offense looks promising.
