Mississippi State

Mississippi State comes in at No.18 on the Coaches Poll. How? Well I’m asking myself the same question.

Nick Fitzgerald is a very talented quarterback. And that goes a long way for a team in college football. However, Dan Mullen, the glue to that team, is now at the University of Florida. And Joe Moorhead is no Dan Mullen. Why would a coach leave one school and head to another struggling school? Because Mullen knew that Mississippi State was headed for bad days ahead.

Mississippi State earned a record of 9-4 last year. With away games at Kansas State, Alabama, LSU, and Mississippi, and still playing Auburn and Florida at home, the Bulldogs will be lucky to have less than four losses this year.

A four loss team is not a top 20 team. With Joe Moorhead in his first year with the team, and his first year as an FBS head coach, he will likely be overwhelmed and struggle to keep the team in the Top 25.
