Michigan State football hosts plethora of 2020’s top in-state targets
Dallas Fincher, OT, Grand Rapids (Mich.)
Dallas Fincher, a 6-foot-4, 260-pound offensive lineman from Grand Rapids who already has an offer from Michigan State was on campus again for the big recruiting event. Fincher is a legacy recruit for Michigan State, his father Mark Fincher played for the Spartans in the early 1980’s. His father has remained close to the program, and as a result Dallas has grown up around the program and has been to East Lansing multiple times.
Fincher is an interior lineman who could project at guard or center, he is very technically advanced for a high school offensive lineman, especially one that is still yet to start his junior year. When you watch his tape, you see things that suggest that he has the capability of being a future All-American in college.
I was able to talk to Fincher about his latest visit to the Michigan State football program the other day. I asked him what his favorite part of the visit was, he told me “being able to spend time with the players, the coaches, and the other recruits.” When I asked him what current Michigan State football players he talks to he told me “Dan VanOpstall and Cole Chewins are two of the guys I talk to the most, off the top of my head.”
Due to Fincher being so familiar with the coaches and program the coaches don’t really recruit him as much as just catching up with him. Fincher described the interactions with the coaches as “it is more of a make a decision on how comfortable you feel. I have been around the program for a while now and know what they’re all about.”
Fincher’s high school teammate and fellow class of 2020 recruit Bryce Mostella was planning to be on campus as well, but was unable to attend. “He didn’t end up making it, but that was because he had band camp.” Mostella is a 6-foot-6, 235-pound defensive end who attends East Kentwood High School in Grand Rapids. Had Mostella made it I believe he would’ve received an offer from Michigan State. The coaches like to offer a lot of their top instate targets in person.
