Michigan State football hosts plethora of 2020’s top in-state targets
Peny Boone, RB, Detroit (Mich.)
Peny Boone is a 6-foot-2, 210-pound running back from Detroit, Michigan and attends Martin Luther High School. The Michigan State football coaches were happy to have one of the top in-state players on campus, and to get a chance to get to know each other even better.
Boone is the total package at running back, he has great size, power, speed and agility. He’s a running back that hits the hole very hard when it’s there, or shows great patience allowing the blockers to set up the block if it’s not there yet. Watching his tape you see a guy who can absolutely shake a defender out of his shoes, or run him over. If that’s not enough for a defender to worry about, he might just bust out a stiff arm and plant them into the ground.
Michigan State coaches have yet to offer a scholarship to Boone, but it is very early in the process, and the Michigan State coaches are much more patient and thorough than most staffs. When I asked Boone if the coaches discussed an offer he told me “I should get one, but they don’t know when it’ll be.”
I asked Boone what his favorite part about the visit was, he said “just being around the team, they were cool.” The coaches used the visit to catch up with Boone to see how he’s been doing and just catching up with him. Asked about what he likes about Michigan State he told me “they’re good people to be around.”
