Next steps for Thompson

The best Division 2 offer that Thompson was given last year came from the Missouri Western State Griffons. Missouri Western actually attempted to offer a number of the underrated ICC standouts that weren’t getting too many looks from D1 schools for any number of reasons.

The good news for Thompson is that Missouri Western is one of the best and most resourceful D2 football programs in the nation. The investment that the school gave to the facilities for the football program could make Missouri Western a spotlighted D2 team for years to come. That plays to the advantage of Thompson.

As of now, Thompson is not on the roster for Missouri Western. Yet, that could be for any number of reasons. The latest from Thompson’s Twitter timeline shows that he’s still active with Missouri Western football and looking to make an impact this fall. He won’t be the only former Last Chance U star that will play at the D2 level either.

Another former ICC standout in center Kerry Buckmaster signed with the Lindenwood Lions in Missouri. A few other running backs that went beyond the spotlight on Last Chance U for the three parts of the series that went on to play for D2 schools are Boo McKnight with Northeastern State and Stephon Starks with Central Oklahoma.
