Path to the NFL?

Fans of Last Chance U and Thompson individually won’t’ have to look far to find a prime example of how a talented and undersized wide receiver can work his way back on the path to the NFL. Thompson’s shot at the NFL is far from over despite playing at the D2 level at 23-years-old.

In fact, the path shared between one NFL Pro Bowler that had a whirlwind of a journey during his college career and Thompson is fairly similar. We don’t have a clue yet as to how Thompson will do with Missouri Western and how much attention that will garner. But, he’s sure to get more attention than your average D2 standout if he excels with the Griffons in 2018.

However, that NFL wide receiver that Thompson shares a common path with is Kansas City Chiefs star Tyreek Hill. As one of the most elusive skill position weapons in the NFL, Hill is already considered one of the best and fastest wide receivers in the league. The nearly 1,200 receiving yards and seven touchdowns that Hill racked up last season was no mistake.

Hill epitomizes the example of how a focused player can still make it to the NFL and have a bright future in the pros despite a bumpy college journey. At one point, Hill was the best offensive player for the Oklahoma State Cowboys in 2014 before Mike Gundy dismissed him from the program for off the field issues. Hill would later enroll at the D2 program West Alabama and get taken by the Chiefs in the 2016 NFL Draft. So, this path to the NFL is possible for Thompson.
