This is one of those games that may end up much higher on the list depending on how the offense shapes up by this Oct. 13 matchup. Boston College might find itself in the AP Top 25 by this matchup and if that’s the case, this game gets even tougher.

Boston College returns one of the nation’s top running backs in sophomore AJ Dillon. He broke out as a true freshman with 1,589 yards and 14 touchdowns and he has his entire offensive line returning to lead the third-best rushing attack in the ACC. There’s a good chance he could approach that 2,000-yard mark and cause terror for defenses.

Sophomore quarterback Anthony Brown returns and is hoping to put up more respectable numbers after accounting for just 1,367 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2017. However, he’s coming off a knee injury, so that could open the door for fellow sophomore EJ Perry to take over.

The Eagles’ defense is nowhere near where it was when Don Brown was in charge, but rather it ranked 36th in scoring and 57th in total yards allowed last year. That side of the ball returns six starters, including star defensive end Zach Allen who had 100 tackles and six sacks. Safety Lukas Dennis is also back after leading the team with seven interceptions.

Boston College could be one of those sneaky contenders in 2018.
