A neutral site game against LSU in the opening week provides an intriguing matchup. This will be an early test for both teams to judge the direction of the season. The winner will add a big boost to their resume. The loser will need to look for answers quick if they want to remain in the national discussion.

LSU is entering a year of transition with an entirely new offense. The Tigers have to replace pretty much everyone at the skill positions and they have a new offensive coordinator in Steve Ensminger. Cohesion among the unit will be key, especially against a defensive powerhouse like the Hurricanes. LSU will fall back on their tough-nosed defense that will keep them in games.

After being pushed in fall camp, quarterback Malik Rosier will earn his spot as the starter. It will be up to the Hurricanes to establish a running game early with Travis Homer. It will be tough sledding running against LSU, but Homer finds enough running lanes to rack up 95 yards and an all-important touchdown, in what should be a low scoring affair.

Rosier throws an early interception but rebounds, throwing just shy of 200 yards and a score. A field goal wins this one and Miami starts off the season on the right foot.

Final: Miami 17, LSU 16 (1-0)
