October arrives and South Carolina gets back to friendly turf as they welcome Missouri to Williams-Brice Stadium. The Gamecocks currently have a two game winning streak versus the Tigers including last year’s 31-13 victory.
The Tigers started off last season 1-5, with their only victory coming against Missouri State in a bizarre 72-43 game. The second half of the season was better with six straight victories and securing bowl eligibility.
The Tigers fell to Texas in the bowl, but finished 7-6 after what looked to be a lost season early. Missouri loses its offensive coordinator Josh Heupel to UCF, but the offense should still be fine with quarterback Drew Lock coming off a season that saw him throw for nearly 4,000 yards and 44 touchdowns. The Tigers return a total of 10 starters on offense, but their defense is unproven.
If you like offense, this game could be fun to watch. Both teams kick it up with an offensive display not seen in Columbia since the Head Ball Coach was patrolling the sidelines. Can the Gamecocks win a shootout? Yes they can. Their offense should surprise people this season and the Tigers will get a taste of it. This fun one ends with a Parker White field goal as regulation expires.
Final: Missouri 38, South Carolina 41 (5-1, 3-1 SEC)
